How much does a mattress weigh?

Deciphering the weight of a mattress: Beyond measurements

When it comes to choosing the perfect mattress, the question of weight can be just as important as the choice of firmness or material. The variability in mattress weight is an intriguing factor that goes beyond simply transporting it from one place to another. From the lightest to the most robust models, let's take a look at which variables are decisive:

1. Weight Range:

The weight of a mattress can vary significantly, from lightweight models to heavier and more substantial options. In general, single and double mattresses can weigh between 10 and 25 kilos.Queen size and king size mattresses can range from 30 to 80 kilos. These values provide a wide range, but it is crucial to understand that the specific weight will depend on several factors.

2. Dimensions and their impact on weight:

The dimensions of the mattress play an essential role in the weight equation. As the size increases, it is only natural that the weight will also increase. A twin size mattress will be lighter than a king size mattress, due to the additional amount of material needed to cover a larger space. In addition, the height of the mattress also has an influence; thicker mattresses tend to be heavier due to the increased amount of layers and structural support.

3. Influence of material on weight:

Now, let's get to the heart of the matter: the type of material. Mattresses are made of a variety of materials, and each has its own characteristic weight.

ViscoelasticViscoelastic mattresses tend to be heavier due to the density of the material. This type of mattress provides exceptional support, but this benefit comes with a heavier weight.

Inner springs: In relation to spring mattresses, the quality of the support is directly linked to the number of springs, as well as the weight of the mattress in equivalent dimensions. Depending on the number of springs, they can be lighter or heavier, such as multi-spring or pocket spring mattresses, which are usually heavier.

Latex: The latex mattressesknown for their durability and responsiveness, vary in weight according to the thickness of the latex layer, the more latex the greater the weight.

Hybrids: Hybrid mattresses, which combine different materials, fall into an intermediate weight range. The combination of foam, latex and springs can balance the equation between support and weight.

The Wonderflip mattressesOur two versions feature hybrid technology, meaning that our two versions have a combination of materials that provide adaptability, support and a unique feel. The Organic versionwhich is composed of organic cotton and pocket springs, and the Green Latex which is composed of latex and pocket springs; adding layers of Kenaf, linen and natural viscose for both types.

Another important point is that the Wonderflip mattresses have 280 pocket springs per square metre, so the weight will also vary according to the size chosen, and the weight is between 20 kg and 75 kg.

Take all variables into account!

Deciding on the ideal mattress weight will depend on your personal needs and preferences. From the wide weight range to the specific dimensions and materials, every aspect contributes to the sleep experience.

Next time you are faced with choosing a mattress, consider not only its dimensions and firmness, but also its weight, as this detail could make a big difference to your long-term comfort and satisfaction.
